Loved the movie! Yes I dragged my whole family to the midnight showing last night! I have never done something that ridiculous....ever! But it was fun! Me and Michael were the only ones who have read the books! Carl claims he didn't have time to read it when it was on the Kindle for free and Clayton is just a lazy reader! Carl now wants to really read it! I love Katniss....My only 2 complaints....Katniss in the book is much more cold hearted, calculated, brilliant and very manipulative....They softened Katniss up for the movie a little too much....oh and the other thing, it never really shows the disdain that Katniss and Haymitch have for each other. They hate each other in the book. The movie made out as though they were friends. The way he calls her "sweetheart" in the book is always sarcastic and with hate. In the movie, it's almost a little bit of a pet name for Katniss. That they are friends. Her relationship with Haymitch will change repeatedly in the trilogy, but definitly in the first one, she hated him. She didn't understand why he could be such a drunk. It's only after she becomes victor, that she knows the pain and guilt all the victors feel. That's when she is able to see what makes Haymitch tick.
I do like the girl who was chosen to be Katniss! But I do prefer to see the "real" Katniss come out for the next 2 movies. Katniss is not weak on the outside. She is strong, strong-willed and cold and calculated! I want to see more of that!
